Plays written for classroom reading by MARY CARR

For twenty-four years I wrote and performed plays for school pupils and it is these which I have adapted for classroom reading and for which there are many educational benefits.

Beyond developing literacy skills and giving the students the experience of reading a drama script before they meet the more formal plays to be studied for examinations (where there is a proven need), they also offer an innovative and exciting way of approaching an academic subject.

The subjects of the plays (which I have researched), have been chosen at the suggestion of teachers as being part of the school curriculum and therefore able to support their teaching by leading in to a topic which can be further explored.

Lesson notes and work sheets are available with each play/title to develop drama, creative writing and further research. The plays are accessible so that all the pupils in a class can be involved.
If published, the schools would need to buy sets each time which makes it a viable publishing option.
